Dr. Kristopher Robert Rinehart was born in Huntington Beach California and grew up in various Orange County beach cities. He attended Saddleback Junior College where he pursued both his academic and athletic interests. Kris earned his undergraduate degree in psychology and biological sciences at the University of California–Irvine, where he graduated cum laude while also winning the martial arts national sparring championship. After working as a research associate at the Institute for Brain Aging and Dementia, he entered medial school in St. Louis, MO. His studies included externships in emergency medicine at Harvard and Loma Linda, where he was offered residency positions. Upon graduation, however, Dr. Rinehart elected to complete his residency training in South Central Los Angeles at Martin Luther King Hospital, a busy county facility with high-volume, high-acuity, level one-trauma facilities and profound medical pathology.
During his residency, Dr. Rinehart served as chief of improved organizational performance and kept a busy moonlighting schedule at both Kaiser and County. He was awarded the Dedicated Service Award and the Charles R Drew Mission Award for his service during residency. Dr. Rineart continued to work for Kaiser per diem after graduating while also working in a number of other ER's in a Locum Tenens capacity. He was then invited to return to Martin Luther King Hospital as an attending physician and associate professor of clinical emergency medicine. During his tenure, Dr. Rinehart served as chairman of the Peer Review Committee and participated in the residency-training program as the director of clinical performance.
Dr. Rinehart left the hospital to organize the partners of California Mobile Physicians (CMP) and begin service to a number of Southern California emergency departments contracted to many different emergency medicine groups. He currently serves as president, CEO and chief medical officer for CMP, while keeping a rigorous clinical schedule.
